Interior Detailing Guide

Step 1 – Vacuum

  1. Remove loose items and garbage from the vehicle

  2. Vacuum the interior

    • Vacuum from top to bottom so any loose particles fall to the floor.

    • Work from one end of the vehicle to the other, ensuring no spots are missed.

    • Go over tough spots several times with the vacuum until all particles are gone.

    • Move seats forward and backward to reach all areas of the floor.

  3. Check crevices and tight spaces for missed areas

Step 2 – Shampoo

  1. Identify and treat stains and spots that require special treatment

    • Apply a stronger cleaning product to treat situations as needed.

    • Use caution when using stronger cleaning products that are not intended for use on cars.

    • Treat the stain several times as needed until the stain is gone or lessened.

  2. Shampoo carpets and upholstery

    • Use a scrub brush and vehicle shampoo.

    • Check instructions on your vehicle shampoo for tips.

    • This step may be repeated as needed.

  3. Check for additional stains or areas that were missed

Step 3 – Dashboard and Plastics

  1. Wipe all hard surfaces (excluding glass)

    • Use an interior detailing spray or all-purpose cleaner and a microfiber towel.

    • DO NOT spray excessive amounts of liquid on electronics.

  2. Clean tight areas

    1. This includes air vents, corners, and cup holders.

    2.  Use cotton swabs or small brushes.

  3. Check for areas that were missed

Step 4 – Glass

  1. Clean windshields

    1. Spray front and rear windshield directly with a glass cleaner.

    2. Wipe clean with a microfiber towel.

  2. Clean side windows

    • Roll down windows and clean the top edge of the glass.

    • Roll back up and spray directly with glass cleaner and wipe clean.

  3. Check for areas that were missed.

Step 5 – Door Jambs

  1. Clean the door jambs

    • Use an exterior detailing spray or soap and water.

    • Soap and water may work best for very dirty door jambs.

    • If using soap and water, remember to rinse the soap off before continuing.

  2. Apply wax

    1. Apply 1-3 thin coats of wax to the door panels.

    2. Follow the instructions on your product or check step 5 under the exterior detailing guide.

    3. Do not apply wax to any plastic trim.
